Art in Hand 2:
The World of Artist Trading Cards

In April 2010 Eastampton, New Jersey will again host an exhibition, this time entitled Art in Hand 2: The World of Artist Trading Cards, of artist trading cards by local, national and international artists. As on the previous occasion, the exhibition will be held at the historic Smithville Mansion Annex Art Gallery.

Submissions are welcome from all, whether they are professional artists and designers or just beginning their artistic journey. The exhibition will be curated to determine placement, but all entries received will be included. After the exhibition the cards will be swapped out to the participants, and you will receive as many cards as you send.

Entries should be the standard artist trading card size of 2½ x 3½ inches.

On this occasion there will be two different submission categories:

  • Original paintings, mixed media, collage, handmade prints, drawings and fibre art
  • Photographs and digital art

No reproductions will be accepted.

Cards will be swapped within their category.

Participants should submit three, six or nine artist trading cards, together with a completed Artist Application. There is no submission fee, but please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage for your card trade returns when the exhibition closes. Entrants from overseas do not need to send postage for their returns, but should send one extra card instead.

Send your cards to:

Burlington County Division of Cultural Affairs and Tourism

marked for the attention of Lynn Lemyre.

Entries must be postmarked by 19th March 2010, and the exhibition will take place from 10th to 30th April 2010.

The names of the partipating artists will be listed on the website at www.burlcoarts.com. The organisers will send photographs and copies of any press coverage of the exhibition to the entrants. At the exhibition there will be a world map showing the home countries and cities of the artists.

An announcement about awards will be made in due course.
